Sewn Baby Shower Invitations
This style of invitation will work for any kind of celebration including a wedding, birthday, graduation. Any kind of fabric or sewing material will suit. For this baby shower invitation tutorial we are going to use felt. It is quite cheap and comes in a huge range of colors.
Materials
- sheets of felt or fabric
- button embellishments
- sewing or very sharp scissors
- 3 3/4" x 5" white card inserts
- computer, word processing software and a printer
- sewing machine, needle and thread etc
- corner rounder (optional)
Directions
Print your invitation wording onto the white
inserts. Round off the corners with a corner rounder punch if you choose. |
|
Cut two 4 1/4" squares from the pink colored felt.
sew on a button or appliqué to adorn your invitation sleeve/pocket
Starting from the top of the right hand
corner sew the two pieces together down along the 3 edges finishing at the
top left hand corner. Be sure to use cotton thread in a contrasting color. I have used a bright hot pink color thread on this pale pink felt.
|
|
Slip your baby shower invitation into the pocket and post inside an A2 envelope or deliver them by hand. |
Cool options
- Trim around the sewn edges with pinking shears for a different effect
- Instead of sewing with a machine you can blanket stitch to create the pocket. Blanket stitch looks fantastic but is time consuming.
