Fabric Bookmark Invitations
Riana made these fabric invitations for her mom's retirement party in July. Bastille day
theme, She's going to make baguettes and flan and cherry clafoutis.
Materials
- Fabric - can be any fabric that you have or you can purhcase some.
- felt material, streamers or ribbon
- cardboard
- Sewing machine
- Sewing tools - scissors. needle and thread
- buttons
- vellum paper
Directions
Sew the fabric pieces into bookmarks (stuffed with cardstock to make them firm) and add the blue, white and red felt streamers.
Print the invite information on to vellum, cut them to measure. Hand sew them on to the with an old vintage button on the top where the three felt streamers meet. Buttons are great for attaching paper to other surfaces.
All the products I used were second hand and re-purposed fabric made into invites. Total cost:
zero. But lots of time.

Officially Retired Invitaitons (digital)
Heidi created these digital invitations for a retirment celebration. She used digital Organic and Shabby Stitches from Shabby Princess and included a couple of photos of the guest of honor.
If you have software like photoshop by Adobe or Gimp you can search for free patterned scrapbook papers for your backgrounds on the internet. Photoshop brushes are also handy for making these types of digital invites. www.coolestbrushes.com have lots of free photoshop brushes for you to use. there is a stitches brush available that i have found quite useful.

Invitations
How we made them:
Made these invitations in one evening. The hardest part was deciding how we wanted to make them. Had tons of ideas - some were quite outrageous - but eventually settled for this simple design with text on the front printed onto recycled card from the copy shop and then glued onto some ochre colored cardboard to match the color of johns favorite suit shirt that he wore all the time.
Some ribbon was wrapped around the text card and tied in a knot. After many years of hard work the invitations and the party was a big success.
