Fun Turtle DIY Save the Date Cards
Erin made this homemade save the date postcard for a couple of family members in Portland, Oregon. The Bride and groom - Candi and Chris - wanted the postcard to represent nature with a modern twist and also incorporate their wedding colors which were black, chartreuse green, and their favorite animal - turtles.
How the save the date card was made - main points
-
The postcard design itself was created with Adobe Illustrator software.
-
The turtles are from a vector illustration that was purchased from www.istockphoto.com. The purchase was one turtle which wasI duplicated, flipped and scaled down to make a second smaller turtle. A top hat and veil were added to each of the turtles to give them a more playful/romantic feel.
-
The fonts used were 'Chicago House' and 'Dead Secretary' - both fonts were downloaded for free from www.dafont.com (free font website).
-
Everything else was created in Illustrator using the pen tool and other effects.
-
Total time spent on the postcard was around 3 hours.
-
The final draft was emailed to Candi and Chris and were printed at a local print shop.
